Ben Pugh
Director of Production,
Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture
For over 25 years, Ben has provided comprehensive management infrastructure for projects, productions, festivals, and events in the creative and cultural industries. He works across disciplines in theatre, music, visual arts, festivals, digital media, community engagement, and education. As a cultural sector practitioner, Ben’s credits include senior roles in major public events such as the Bradford Mela & Festival, Manchester International Festival, The York Mystery Plays, and Hull City of Culture. He has been fortunate to work on some amazing projects, ranging from establishing an international puppetry festival; creating an annual high-end studio ceramics show to delivering city-wide, site-specific theatre projects and assisting artists and academics in recreating the acoustics of a long-ruined abbey, live in the footprint where the building once stood. As a management consultant, Ben has provided strategic support and organisational development to several cultural sector teams, facilitating a range of activities, from developing major capital projects and preparing policy frameworks to securing licences and establishing charities. Ben thrives on the challenges posed by complex partnerships and unusual projects. Although role descriptions and job titles may change, at the core of his work is enabling teams of creative individuals to develop their ideas and bring them to life in the audience's world.
